Plasma Exchange Therapy
Boost cellular function and slow aging through plasma removal.
The benefits
Revitalize energy and cognition
Restore clarity and energy by clearing out inflammation-driving molecules that disrupt cell function.
Strengthen immune system
Boost your immune system by clearing components that add to inflammation and immune suppression, helping defend against infections and inflammatory conditions.
Slow cellular aging
Protect your cells from harmful molecules that damage DNA, hinder cell performance, and accelerate cell aging.
Is Plasma Exchange Therapy right for you?
Health considerations
Plasma exchange may help with:*
- Recovering from chronic viral infections
- Slowing progression of Alzheimer’s Disease
- Managing symptoms of autoimmune conditions
Longevity goals
Plasma exchange may help anyone seeking to:
- Live longer and free of disease
- Maintain sharp cognition and memory over time
- Prevent illness and infections
Common questions
How does Plasma Exchange Therapy work?
Here is an overview of what to expect during plasma exchange:
Step 1. Withdrawal
Your blood is withdrawn via IV.
Step 2. Plasma Separation
Your withdrawn blood is processed in a centrifuge that separates
out your plasma from other blood components (red and white
blood cells, platelets).
Step 3. Replacement
Your plasma is replaced with saline and a protein called Albumin.
Step 4. Re-Infusion
Your freshly filtered blood is re-infused via IV.
How do you separate the plasma?
After the blood is drawn, it is run through a centrifuge that separates the plasma from the other blood products.
How much does Plasma Exchange Therapy cost?
Plasma Exchange Therapy at Extension Health is administered from our West Village NYC location and costs $12,000 per session. It is not covered by insurance and is self-pay only.
Who shouldn’t get Plasma Exchange Therapy (i.e. what are some contraindications?)
People with the following conditions may not be candidates for this therapy:
–Serious heart problems
–Active infections
–Blood clotting disorders
–Severe anemia
What are some side effects of plasma exhange?
Plasma Exchange Therapy is generally safe, but some patients do experience temporary and mild side effects, including:
-fatigue
-muscle cramps
-bruising
-mild allergic reactions
-temporary drops in blood pressure
